In following up Jakub Byrczek's photographic wanderings we come to the realization that he is heading towards an absolute simplicity of the photographic work, towards the idea of an archetypal essence of photography. Towards a total levelling of the photographic process.

Resigning himself to the complicated technical line of work, the author leads photography to a contact recording - to a photography created with the aid of a primitive large-format camera (the author perforce accepts the utilization of a way where light passes through numerous optical systems, whether inside the camera, or also in theenlarging instrument before the end result is achieved),leading to a total reduction. The author completes his most recent photographs without using modern emulsions on unstable salty paper; the object of fascination is not a permanent image, but the very fact of its existence.

In this "back-to-nature" step, Jakub sees the discovery of the core of photography. For, often it lies "deepest" right in front of us - on the surface.
